Reducing emissions, increasing biodiversity

Clinic Cois Abhann have a Green Party representative on staff so we knew their pledge was going to be good! They already have a wild garden with newly planted native trees, use eco-friendly cleaning products and avoid single-use cleaning wipes where possible, reduce waste by sharing their medical supplies with other clinics to make sure they're used up before their use-by date, operate a bike-to-work scheme, encourage patients to spend time with nature as part of their health journey, and use environmentally-friendly medicines (such as inhalers) where possible.

For Dingle COP, they have pledged to be stricter in segregating their waste so that more of it is recycled or composted successfully and they'll reduce their electricity usage by fully-transitioning to LED bulbs, switching off devices instead of leaving them on standby, and reducing outdoor lighting. They'll also be installing solar panels.

Lovely Dingle boutique La Boheme already source and stock a range of sustainable clothing made from Fairtrade organic cotton, stock high-quality timeless clothing that combats fast fashion, and support Irish brands that manufacture in Ireland to reduce transportation emissions.

For Dingle COP, they have pledged to introduce a dedicated "Sustainable Clothing" rail in the shop, update their website to advise customers how to wash and care for clothing to prolong its life, reduce water consumption, and reduce water pollution, and will aim to increase the percentage of Irish-made clothing to 10% of their stock.

The Dingle Skellig Hotel is highly committed to sustainability and partnering with local suppliers.

They're starting their Dingle COP journey with a pledge to launch a new drinks menu that features and promotes locally-sourced beers and spirits to reduce their transportation emissions and support the local economy. This will be launched 7 June 2024!

Dingle’s St Vincent De Paul shop is an absolute inspiration for their great work in making clothing and other items both ethical and circular. Follow them on Instagram, which they update frequently to highlight new items in the shop, including their own fantastic upcycled creations.

For Dingle COP. they’ve pledged to run a Why buy preloved? campaign in September to promote clothing reuse.
